“I shared half of my salary as donations to the community...In my heart, I felt I should have done even more.”
Even before receiving aid from the emergency relief fund, KEF alumna Akullu Gloria set aside half of her salary from her job as a bank teller to support her community. This money went towards donations of food, soap, and clothes for families in her community--many of whom did not know where their next meal would be coming from. Akullu hoped to give even more, but she was recently furloughed. Now, without an income, Akullu continues to serve her community by teaching others preventative techniques to curb the spread of COVID-19.
